Which Babolat racket should you choose?

Pure Drive — power and versatility

The Pure Drive is the most popular racket in the range, and the one most club players should look at first. It is built to give free depth: you get pace back without having to swing at full commitment. That makes it forgiving on days when your timing is off, which is most days for most of us.

It is a stiff frame, though, so it does transmit vibration. If you are sensitive in the elbow, pair it with a soft multifilament rather than a full polyester bed.

• Best for: all-court players from roughly UTR 3 upwards who want the racket to help generate pace.
• Lite / Boost versions: the right entry point if you are starting out or coming back after a break.

Pure Aero — spin above all

The Pure Aero is the Rafael Nadal lineage: an aerodynamic frame with an open 16x19 pattern designed to bite the ball and launch it with heavy topspin. If you swing fast and brush up the back of the ball, it turns that technique into a genuinely different shot shape.

If you hit flat, it is the wrong racket. The extra launch angle you paid for becomes balls sailing long.

• Best for: modern western-grip baseliners, roughly UTR 4 and up, who already generate racket-head speed.
• 98 version: a tighter, more controlled take for stronger players who found the 100 too lively.

Pure Strike — control and precision

The Pure Strike is Babolat's answer to the classic control frame. It gives you less free power than the other two and hands you placement in exchange. Flat, clean hitters tend to prefer it immediately; players who rely on the racket for depth tend to find it demanding.

• Best for: advanced players, roughly UTR 7 and up, with reliable technique and a full swing.
• Not for: beginners — it will feel dead and punishing.

The short answer

If you are unsure, it is a Pure Drive: it suits the widest range of players and the fewest people regret it. Choose the Pure Aero only if topspin is genuinely central to how you play, and the Pure Strike only once your technique is consistent enough that you want the racket to stop helping.
